Guidelines for Preparing and Submitting Abstracts
16th International Congress of Laboratory and Clinic
Phase 1: Preparing Abstracts
Step 1: Essential Points for Abstract Preparation
Submission Format: Only abstracts should be submitted. Do not include the full text.
Language Requirement: All abstracts must be prepared and submitted in English, following the format outlined in the abstract submission guidelines and the provided template (attached).
Author Communication: The submitting author is responsible for notifying all co-authors listed in the submission.
Corresponding Author Responsibility: The corresponding author ensures the scientific accuracy and literary quality of the abstract. Abstracts that are plagiarized or previously presented at national congresses will be rejected during initial screening and will not proceed to peer review.
Plagiarism Reporting: Any confirmed instances of plagiarism will be reported to the relevant university’s research deputy.
Supervisor Acknowledgment: The names of research supervisors or advisors must be included in the abstract.
Step 2: Guidelines for Abstract Composition
Abstract Components: Each abstract should contain the following:
Title
Author(s) and their institutional affiliations (Department, Faculty, University/Research Institute/Organization)
Main body of the abstract
Keywords
Formatting Requirements:
Length: Maximum of 500 words.
Font: Use a standard font for the body text; headings should be bold.
Types of Abstracts: Accepted submissions may be based on Original Research, Case Reports, Case Series, Clinical Trials, or Review Articles.
Required Sections for Research Articles, Case Reports, Clinical Trials, and Systematic Reviews/Meta-Analyses:
Background and Aim
Methods
Results
Conclusion
The abstract template is available at the end of these guidelines and in the submission section.
Content Focus: Emphasize methodology and key findings; avoid lengthy introductions and conclusions.
Review Articles: Only systematic reviews and meta-analyses will be accepted. Narrative or traditional reviews may be considered if the corresponding author is a faculty member with prior publications on the topic.
Case Reports: Must include significant educational points.
Clinical Trials: Must provide an IRCT (Iranian Registry of Clinical Trials) registration number in the methods section or at the end of the abstract. Noncompliance will lead to rejection.
Inventions and Innovations: Should be submitted as research articles with approval from the Industrial Property Office.
Keywords: Include 3-5 keywords, ideally using the Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) system (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/mesh).
Phase 2: Abstract Submission Guidelines
